Standardized tests

Assessments are how we keep track of student learning and report to the State and Federal Governments on how schools are performing. Listed below are the primary assessments our school uses for these purposes.
EasyCBM is used as a screener to check fluency in reading for students in K-8.  One minute reads are assessed in the fall, winter, and spring.

MCA
 - Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment - required by the state of Minnesota to hold schools accountable. The state is required by the federal government to assess students in math and reading in grades 3-8, plus reading in 10th grade and math in 11th grade. Assessments are held once per year in the spring.

Star Renaissance  We use this program to monitor the progress our students meet throughout the year, which gives us minute detail and helps to drill down to specific skills with which students may be having difficulty. We assess three times per year in order to accurately measure student progress, and we can also use this program throughout the year on an individual basis to supplement growth opportunities.  Meets Authorizer requirements.

Go to the Minnesota Report Card to see results for our school, state results, or any other school in the state.

MCA testing dates

Families of online students will receive specific information via email regarding testing dates and locations. If you have any questions or conflicts for testing dates, please contact Natalie Swiler, at natalieswiler@crosslakekids.org, to schedule a make-up session. In addition to parent refusal, an "extenuating circumstances" option will be accepted this year by the MDE.
