Superintendent’s Message
Dr. Jenna Leadbetter has served Crosslake Community Schools since 2024, first as Principal of Online Learning and now as District Superintendent. She holds a doctorate in education, administrative licensure as a superintendent, principal, and special education director, and more than seven years of combined experience serving as a school administrator. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Minnesota Association of Charter Schools.
Dear Crosslake Community Schools Families,
Welcome to a new school year!
As of July 1, the “s” in Schools reflects an important evolution for our district: one district, two distinct schools and a shared commitment to meeting students where they are.
Our in-person school serves PreK–8 students in Crosslake, where the surrounding woods, water and community are part of the learning environment. Our online school serves K–12 students across Minnesota, offering flexibility for families whose lives, locations or learning needs call for a different path.
While the two schools operate differently, they are united by the same purpose. We want every student to be known, supported, appropriately challenged and prepared to contribute meaningfully to the world around them.
Our mission is to grow environmentally literate, community-impacting learners of excellence. Guided by Respect, Excellence, Learning, Integrity and Community, we work to help students develop strong academic foundations, confidence in their abilities and an understanding of their responsibilities to others.
As a public charter district, every family makes an active choice to be here. Nearly 600 students attend Crosslake Community Schools, and we understand the trust that decision represents. As both a parent and a superintendent, I take that responsibility seriously.
I joined Crosslake in 2024 to lead our online school and have since had the privilege of helping bring two schools together as one district. We have much to be proud of, and we also have important work ahead. My commitment is to lead that work with clarity, honesty and a continued focus on what best serves students and families.
My word for this year is rooted.
Strong roots provide stability while making growth possible. That is my hope for our district: that we remain grounded in our mission and values, responsive to our families and willing to keep improving.
I encourage you to stay connected, ask questions and share your perspective throughout the year. Strong schools depend on strong relationships, and your partnership is an important part of our work.
